Windows Update stuck at 0% after failing to update?[HELP]=(

I recently downgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7, I absolutely can't stand Windows 8. Well the OS runs beautifully as I expected but I am running into some issues updating my computer. The updates downloaded and installed just fine after the fresh install but after letting all my updates download and install, I rebooted the computer so they could take affect. It booted to the desktop after waiting quite sometime, I shut down at 4am, woke up this morning to finish configuring my new fresh install and low-and-behold Windows needed to configure more updates, after waiting, it got to step 5 finally and stated it failed and it needed to revert the changes.

With all that being said, now I'm back at my desktop trying to update again and it is hanging at 0%. I even set it to download 1 update around 100kb just to see if it would download. It is not, I have tried windows update fixit tool to no avail. I'm really at my wits end as I do not want to reformat a third time to find out it will just happen again. My gut tells me the solution lies somewhere in regedit but I'm having a hard time locating the solution.

I also want to state that I found on reddit many people found a solution to this by turning off the network meter option but I cannot find the option in Windows 7?

I work in a machine shop. So most of my co-workers are male. I am literally 1 out of 4 women in the shop.

I usually have my Snapchat notifications turned off... So I'm sitting in the break room and I decided to send my boyfriend a witty snapchat when I noticed he sent me one this past Sunday.

Without thinking I open up the Snapchat and its a picture of my ass with the caption of "loving this view". My phone decided in that moment to freeze. I could not turn it off. (I have a piece of shit HTC so there is no way I can get to the battery) I was in a panic. And everyone saw my buns. Now I'm getting tons of shit for it. Thank you Obama.

Reddit help! I cant decide what style to write my story in.

A couple years ago a began a steampunk novel. After getting about 60,000 words in I abandoned the manuscript because of the recent influx of popularity in young adult novels written in first person present tense with little detail. I did like the content of the story, and I have decided to revisit it, writing in the style of the books I see become popular (for example: Hunger Games, Divergent) I am conflicted because I want to write in a style that reflects myself, but I also want to write something that people are going to want to read, and I am led to believe that the second style is better for those purposes. Here are the first few paragraphs of first my original working, and then the new reworking.

Original:

The first dropped like a feather from the sky, drifting gently until its tail squirmed from sight behind the island's horizon. Two following performers faded into the darkness after it.

A single golden-brown eye, peering through the plates of a telescope, watched the light of meteors streak across the sky like paint on an open canvas. These fiery boulders charged against atmosphere like wild horses, with the hope of shattering through. The few of them who found success, flickered happily before settling in the grass. That observant eye honed in on one of these successful stones, sharp with interest.

Abelia Parker, adjusted the focus of her lens accordingly as the meteor became closer and closer in her scope.

“Abelia!” called a panicked colleague.

Reworking:

The first streaks across the night sky like a paint brush on an open canvas. Two more follow it, their tails squirming out of my sight behind the island's horizon.

My eyes trace the patterns of meteors through the lens of a telescope. I watch as they make a valiant charge against the atmosphere; their only ambition is to shatter through. Those who find success, flicker happily in the grass around my feet.

I lock on to one of the stones, rotating the lens of the scope as it draws closer.

And closer.

I don't think anyone will even make an effort to read this and god, I don't even know if this is the right subreddit. But I'm desperate and I need advice.

A few weeks ago I started being very unhappy. It came out of nowhere and I thought I was just having a bad day. But it never really lingerred, this unsatisfied, unbalanced feeling and now I'm trapped in a spiral of my surroundings. My family is concerned about me criticising them and being sad all the time. They've made everything worse when they started making a bigger deal of it, surely they were just concerned but still. My mother basically told me to be like anyone else (especially in school) because I was just making everyone confused and sad. I felt like this was literally the worst thing to tell me. It felt like she meant that I have to get rid of being this way as doon as possible because the feelings of others are worth more than mine. It felt like she was telling me that I should rather hide my feelings and suffer quietly than driving everyone around me crazy.

I feel like my confidence has shrunk ever since I've enterred a relationship. I got jealous a lot and whilst I was trying to ignore this knot in my stomach it started to dissolve my self-confidence. Too many coincidences (connected to my bf) have since made me realise how I am not like the others, how my social skills are after all almost non-existent, how I'm not half as outgoing as anyone else is. Apart from that I started comparing myself to other girls. My bf is a sweetheart and he never has done wrong, but I've still made him cry with my horribly possesive behaviour. I just believe that all these failures I've recently encounterred have turned me into a person who is dead-unhappy with herself. Everyone wants to know what id going on me with me but I barely can tell myself. I guess all these things are factors for it, but how to get rid of them? With my family constantly reminding me? How can I get happy again or at least figure out what the main cause for my discomfort is? I really fucked up. I believe that a lot of people hate me and that is a horrible feeling. I just feel like I suck all over, like I fail at simple every-day-tasks. I don't know what to do.

Happened a few days back. I met one of my old teachers in the hall, and we made small talk. He asked me how things were going, what I was upto these days. I told him about the movies I'd seen this week; it was a pretty smooth conversation until I asked him if he'd seen Fifty Shades of Grey yet. He only had a vague idea about it, and asked me what it was about...things got a little awkward from then on. It didn't help when I mentioned it was based on a book that had 2 sequels too. And he seemed even more amused when I tried to defend my knowledge based on its popularity. TIFU big time...

This happened yesterday afternoon. Since I graduated college 2 years ago, I have been living in a basement apartment that I rent for $1025. It includes everything heat, electric, cable, etc..Pretty sweet deal. Lately, the basement has become EXTREMELY depressing. It's always dark, and there's only one window which is right next to the door. I call this place "the cave" because that's literally what it is, and whenever someone calls me and asks me about the weather I always have to say. "I have no idea, I live in a cave." So I started scoping out Craigslist for a new place, and even asking around to people who may know of something. Wouldn't you know, one of my friends and her family are good friends with another family down the street who coincidentally is renting out their ground level apartment. This place is LOADED with windows, it's $75 a month less than what I'm paying right now, there's off-street parking and tons of other great stuff that make this place the Taj Mahal for me. I go to see the place with my friend, and immediately take it. Didn't hesitate one bit. I gave the landlord a check for my security deposit, and all I had to do was move my stuff in (which is less than 3 miles away) on March 28th. I'm SO stoked that I got this place, I gave my month notice to my current landlord and she started showing the cave to potential tenants. Fast forward to yesterday. I'm enjoying my lazy Sunday afternoon watching TV and dozing in & out of sleep. The phone rings and it's the new landlord. I'm hoping he's calling to tell me that the carpets are cleaned, and he's so excited to have me as a tenant. He calls to tell me that his son (who owns the house where the apartment is) promised the apartment to his friend to move in on June 1st. He told his son that I had already paid, and I'm ready to move in, to which his son replied "Dad, it's my house!" I kind of nervously laughed and told him that my current landlord had already found someone to move in on April 1st. He told me that I could move in until June, but I'd have to move out. My options were clear: find something within 2 weeks, or move in for 2 months.

Luckily within a couple of hours I found someplace else to live, but it's ANOTHER basement apartment, and this place is A LOT smaller than the cave, and I'd be paying more monthly.

Dammit.

TL;DR: Wanted a better apartment, got screwed over and now have a new and smaller apartment.

This past week was Spring break and while every smart person is traveling to a place a little less frozen. I headed to the Frozen North to visit my parents and see my family for the week of spring break to relax rather than dance my ass off at the beach, great decision IMO. The week passed without incident, the travel North was smooth sailing, however the return voyage would turn out to be quite different. Friends and I were traveling on the same day and as usual, we decided to play traveler Truth or Dare, because texting while driving is a great idea. One such dare was for me to call a number off of a bathroom wall and having just stopped for gas, I decided to venture into the bathroom to see if something would allow this dare to come to pass. I entered the danky Marathon restroom to be greeted by blank white walls, a bust or so I thought. Upon finishing up a my business and washing my hands I turn to see the number on the back of the door. It offered a great BJ for anyone who texted the number and I thought, this is a sign from the heavens that I should text this number.

After texting the number, I had a text message drop in. The person was quite shocked there number was promising something like that. I instantly felt bad, texted the person a few more times explaining our stupid game that my friends and I play and offered to turn around and remove this persons number, which I did. Thinking this person was a lovely young lady, we kept talking and enjoying the fact we could revel in such a joke and confused circumstances. "she" asked me to call her later so she could verbally thank me for what I had done and I obliged. Thinking I had just won the White Knight of the day award, I kept driving. When the appointed time came, I made a phone call only to find out that "She" was He and a very homosexual He indeed. I politely steered the conversation and tried to make a graceful exit but had to ultimately use the some one just rang in on me and I need to call them back excuse to get out of the conversation. I said if I could maybe we could talk again but not as two people seeking a tryst as I am not gay. It has been two days and the man keeps calling me and will not accept being let down lightly.

TL;DR I texted a gay man from a bathroom wall on a dare and now I have gay stalker.

TIFU by being a Bus

This fuck up happned about 3 hours ago. HOORAY ITS ACTUALLY TODAY.

TL;DR Mistakenly revealed my true identity as public transportation to my future peers.

A little back story, my High School has a career center, for learning trades, such as programming and welding and what not. This building is basically just a giant building that has very thin dividers for each class. Very thin and easy to hear the classes beside you. Today during my second period we had a study hall type day, I asked to go down and finish my programming test. (Spelling our name with Blitz3D and adding textures that relate to us.) He called the computer teacher, and he agreed but he would not be in the room. Sweet a whole High School classroom to myself what could go wrong. blah blah blah k=CreateBox(32) ect.. Test is now over. Im just gonna sit here In this empty room and play on my tablet because I don't want to read in study hall. Fuck me right? So I start playing this app I'd been playing for about a day. now let me mention that this room has a front and back entrance into two hallways. I came through the back entrance. As I am play this game, Bus Simulator 2015, I come across a train stop, not wanting to stop I ram it. To my suprise it stopped me and I had to wait for the train to pass, as soon as I realized this my immediate response was "FUCK YOU, I'M A BUS." As soon as that left my mouth I decided to leave,I went through the front door to see a pissed off teacher, standing there with a bunch of laughing students.

He was demonstrating a lower level class to a bunch of 8th Graders. I didn't explain, I just walked as fast as I could. Can't come to school tomorrow.

Offering an apology and seeking some suggestions.

Some questions about using odd formating and styling

I don't particularly know the proper terminology, so feel free to inform me of any proper terms. Is it reasonable to have my story formatted with a line-by-line style? I've gotten in a habit of writing it like this.

"He waved back over at Ezra to restart the camera

I picked the knife back up and returned to my starting position

I'm good"

After getting in a habit of this, I found I could use it stylistically. So I may put the word "alone" on its own line to give more of a sense of actually loneliness. Sometimes I might put a quick thought of a character in-between their dialogue with another character or between some action. Like the "Ah" here.

"Now where was...

About 40 feet away, Ezra was moving a bench to set the camera on."

Not sure if any of it is dumb, so feel free to inform me. Also if anything else is off with this post, go ahead and tell me that too. I'm still reacquainting myself with writing.

Advice on Characters?

So, to start, I would like to say that I am a heterosexual adult male. I know stating my sexuality is a bit odd, but hang with me here. In any case, I need help writing characters that aren't like me. Perhaps a bit much in diversity but nonetheless. Please note, I don't mean to offensive to anyone on this site and I understand that overall, they are just people. But at one point in my story, at least everyone type of these characters will end up having a chapter told in their point of view. (3rd person limited).

A physically disabled character. So, I have a character that is blind and may introduce a character that is paraplegic. Simple enough, advice?

Homosexual characters. I have plenty of characters with differing sexualities, and I just want to know what to avoid so I don't come off as offensive to that particular sexuality. For references, one of the main characters is a lesbian and another recurring side character is gay, along with a few others (Bisexuals and homosexuals) that kind of teeter on the edge of secondary and tertiary characters.

Ethnic characters. I mean this in the sense that many of these characters will either be in their homeland or native from their homeland. I have an Italian character, a Finnish Character and a Hawaiian character that are deep in the roots. Again, anything to avoid or include at the risk of not trying to seem offensive.

I would like to state that I don't have a lot of these as individual characters (though that may be a given.) A character is Category 1 is also in Category 2. One in category 3 is in category 1 and etc. I also would like to apologize for being vague about the characters but I'm a bit paranoid about plagiarism. Last but not least, I just want the general, avoid these clichés that are accepted as fact or most people I know like that are like this. Etc. etc. I thank you for your help.

Also, I would please like to ask any bigots to not comment on this site and leave your hate. No one wants to see it.
